Sarajevo’s multiculturalism was reflected in its buildings, a mixture of Ottoman, Byzantine, Western European and Orthodox architecture. 60 percent of the buildings in Sarajevo were either destroyed or severely damaged by the war. Reconstruction has begun but it will still be years before Sarajevo’s historical beauty is restored.
